"The Eyes"

"Francois Cevert. The eyes" - a painting was portraying a French racer Francois Cevert racing for the team Tyrell in the Elf car. Francois was born in occupied by Nazi Paris. Growing up he realized that racing was his passion and he changed his focus from the piano (to which he had been committed for over 15 years) to the motorsports. He quickly became a French F3 racer at team Tecno. Later he moved up to F2 and finally got a chance to compete against Jackie Stewart at Crystal Palace where he greatly impressed the F1 racer. Eventually, due to a lucky coincidence, Francois became a driver N.2 with Jackie being N.1 when Tyrell's second driver decided to retire after Monaco GP in 1970. Cevert finished second in six F1 races in 1973. Stewart was considering retiring that year which would grant Francois a place of the first driver at Tyrell. However, tragically Cevert died while doing a practice lap at the last race of the season in the US Gran Prix at Watkins Glen.
